It’s Speech Fest at Brookside!! We spent time in class brainstorming and then picking a speech topic, writing our first draft, receiving feedback and then using that feedback to make revisions. After writing our speeches, we then discussed the oral presentations and came up with the criteria as a class. It was a great way for us to take ownership!

After practising our speeches with classmates, we were finally ready to share. It was great to see so many different topics. Some speeches were informational, teaching us about lava, dinosaurs, Cleopatra, smoking and depression. Others were personal and included topics such as “being the youngest”, “my invention”, “my dog”, and “my surgery.” Here are a few of our speeches:
