This week kicked off with a few of us sharing what we learned about the impact of plastic straws on the environment during our monthly assembly. We certainly grabbed the attention of the audience with our engaging speeches. We hope that our message about straws has had an impact! Over the past few weeks we’ve loved reading Louis Sachar’s novel Holes with our student teacher Miss Pannu. Throughout the unit we did a variety of different tasks that involved critical thinking, such as comparing & contrasting, making predictions, making connections and identifying a theme. We’ve used lots of different reading strategies and had lots of great discussions. Our summative task involved creating an interview between two characters in Holes. We were engaged as we came up with relevant deep-thinking questions…and responses to those interview questions. Watch our interviews here:
We also reached the end of our fraction unit. Our summative task involved creating a story that involved fractions and then sharing that story in Book Creator. It was a fun and engaging way to share our learning…and our thinking! Here are a few examples:
It's hard to believe that this was the last full week of May! These last few weeks have flown by!
