This week we discussed Remembrance Day and what it means to us. To some of us, Remembrance Day reminds us of how lucky we are to live in a democratic country. Others think of relatives who fought in a war. We made commemorative doves to recognize and honour soldiers who lost their lives serving our country. To hear different perspectives, we watched several videos from Veterans Affairs Canada (a great place to access primary sources of information!) – videos that include war heroes sharing their stories. This week we’ve been using manipulatives to help us develop a strong conceptual understanding when multiplying decimals. Using concrete and visual representations helps us gain an understanding of why we get certain answers when solving equations. It also allows us to be able to better predict, question and analyze when problem solving. |
We also used critical thinking when reflecting on the goals that we set back in September. We provided an update on our progress in a video recording. Here was our criteria:
- I provide a specific update on my progress
- I give specific examples of growth or change
- I identify how I'm feeling about my progress and orally communicate it clearly
